Remote Income Ideas for Couples
By Rachel Puryear
Teamwork makes the dream work.
If you want to work remotely so you can travel, and you’ve found a special someone who you love and want to share that dream with, and they also want that same thing; that’s a huge achievement in life.
You may be asking yourselves how you can both work remotely, to fulfill those awesome goals. You need a way to make a living on the road, and sometimes it makes sense to combine your skill set and do something together, that neither of you could do alone.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with each of you having your own remote career, and co-working together on your journey. Sometimes it works out best that way.
But if you’re both looking to change your careers to become more remote-friendly, and you decide you want to team up in doing that, here are a few ideas for you and your sweetheart to consider:

Blog, Video, or Podcast Influencers
If, between the two of you, you have a great deal of both interest and knowledge about a particular subject; you could team up in sharing that passion and expertise with the world. Better yet, you could make some money at it (especially with some time, effort, and a good marketing strategy).
You could start a blog, a video channel, or a podcast together – or maybe use more than one of those avenues.
This lends itself to benefiting from combined skill sets which are complementary – for instance, one of you might be a compelling writer and also be good with technologies, while the other is a sharp editor and knowledgeable on the marketing and promotion side. Neither person has to bring everything to the table, and therefore you benefit from multiple areas of experience.
So how do you make money doing these? One of the best ways is through affiliate marketing – which usually includes promoting goods or services online.
Making money with affiliate marketing depends heavily on growing your audience – which itself also takes time and effort. However, in the long run, this can pay off by way of generating passive income for you – allowing you to do more of what you want to together.
Selling Goods Online
You can sell just about anything online that you’re interested in, and can make profitable.
You can start your own website, or use a platform like Amazon or Shopify.
Options like dropshipping or reselling goods (such as from a flea market, garage sale, or clearance bins – this is known as “arbitrage”) mean you don’t even have to manufacture the goods yourself.
Maybe one of you has an eye for items of value that others miss and mark down, and could scout discount shopping. And maybe the other is better at the online marketing and sales coordination aspect. These are both valuable, specialized skill sets that don’t always occur together in one person – so two working together and combining these skills can make a good living this way.
Online Courses and Publishing E-Books
Teaching online courses and writing e-books are a great endeavor for a couple, because you can combine the complementary knowledge that each of you brings to the table. Furthermore, one of you might be great at the writing and editing element, while the other is best at the organization and presentation element; for instance.
Flipping or Renting Real Estate
If one of you is handy and has good knowledge of home repairs, while the other is good with people and problem solving, a career in real estate might be an option for you. You could buy homes in need of repairs and fix them up, and then either rent them (to tenants, or on sites like Airbnb) or sell them for a profit.
This will require you to do some on-site work, though there’s also a lot you can do remotely – especially if you’re eventually renting out property, and having a management company handle cleaning and repairs.
Professional and Administrative Services, and Consulting
Lots of businesses are increasingly looking for virtual assistants, and freelancers to help them with professional, administrative, and consulting services.
If the two of you share complementary knowledge and skills, or similar skill sets and want to take on more than either of you could do alone, there are many great opportunities to earn a living online this way.
House, Garden, and Pet Sitting Services
Lots of people need some looking after their home while they’re away – and sometimes that includes caring for pets, and/or caring for gardens, too.
Together, the two of you can get everything done so that your clients can feel peace of mind while they’re away.
Often, pay for this service is either minimal, or it’s in exchange for having a place to stay for a little while – so it’s more of a supplement to other income, or also a way to travel around without paying costs of accommodations.
Campground and Park Services
Travelers who camp or use RV’s need a place to stay, and some amenities. Campgrounds, especially those in popular tourist spots, can stay busy during travel season – and year-round in some destinations.
Parks also need rangers, and other workers to keep the park running smoothly for visitors.
If you both want to share the responsibilities of managing a campground, or working in the same park, this could be a great way to earn a living together while being in an outdoor setting that you love.

- Summer is here, and while that means adventure, there’s no reason you cannot also be comfortable. Here are a few things to keep you happier and enhance your enjoyment out there:
- If you’re a large or plus-sized outdoor lover, think of the last time you sat in a camping chair. Was it made for your body type? Or did it pinch you, and make you worry that it wouldn’t hold your weight? Was it too low or too small for you? Give your luscious bottom the space and support it needs, with these extra-large, portable outdoor folding chairs that are lightweight to carry, but hold up to 500 lbs/227kg. But if you need more capacity than that, they also make one that holds up to 1,000 lbs/454kg. You’re much safer in a chair that’s meant to hold YOU.
- For relaxing outdoors, you’ll need some shade from the sun. A shade tent is great for that – but of course, it needs to go up easily, you don’t want to screw around with it all day. Check out this easy-to-put-up, cute, portable folding shelter that gives 36 square feet of shade.
- You’ll need a fan to keep you cool in bed on hot nights. However, while camping, electric ones are power-hungry – and loud. So try this battery-powered fan that’s lightweight and quiet, and rotates to cool off everyone. You can also plug it in if you’re hooked up to power. Rechargeable batteries can help with this, too.
