We all need to make a living, and pay our bills. But for many, a job can be even more than that. It can be a way to live one’s values, and to impact a community – or even the world – in a positive way.

Luckily, it’s possible to have it both ways! You can earn a living remotely, while also doing good.

There are online job boards which specialize in listing jobs which make a positive difference, and specifically showcase the remote positions! Check out theimpactjob.com‘s remote section, flexjobs.com‘s nonprofit and philanthropy section (FlexJobs is also a broader site specializing in remote and flexible positions), and workforgood.org (search under remote positions).

Nonprofits need to frequently raise money from generous donors in order to carry out their missions. Many of the same skill sets from digital marketing also carry over to digital fundraising.

This also includes social media managers to help raise awareness and connect with people, through social media channels.

Teaching Online

If you love to teach, there are ways to make money teaching online. You can teach children and adults about a wide variety of subjects.

If you have expertise in health care, there are virtual ways to provide health services to people.

Data entry, care coordinators, customer service, and virtual nursing assistants are examples of remote health care positions that don’t necessarily require years of expensive education, or many years experience.

Human services encompasses a wide variety of services to benefit a community, especially its more vulnerable members (children, elderly, low-income, people with disabilities, veterans, and so forth).

Many such jobs are with government entities, but they can also be with private nonprofits.

A good place to search for such jobs is to check the job listings section of your local county or state website, and search for remote positions.

Environment

Environmental protection is something that affects all of us – no matter who we are. Fighting for and protecting clean air and water, sustainability, measures to address climate change, and preserving natural habitats is important to the well-being and quality of life for every being on the planet.
