Once Again, Reproductive Freedom is a Winner

By Rachel Puryear

This most recent election night showed us all, yet again, that support for protecting and even expanding reproductive freedom is a winner. The majority of Americans are loud and clear that they want autonomy around procreation, they want it now, and they don’t mean halfway, either.

That makes sense – after all, having a choice around these matters is essential to basic personal dignity, is humane, and is also essential in personal as well as broader economic development.

Much as I’d like to say that the GOP and anti-choice advocates overplayed their hand and got their asses handed to them, end of story; this fight is still not over. We must remain ever-vigilant – people sometimes think “freedom isn’t free” is a military rallying cry, but it actually means that we all constantly need to guard personal freedoms.

However, this does go to show that lovers of freedom and bodily cannot just treat it like an afterthought, or be shy about it – we must put it front and center, and support it unequivocally.

Let’s keep up this good momentum, and never, ever, let it waver. The future of all of us depends on it.
